June 4, 2018 Port Bouët (Week 6)

Hey family!!!!!!!
So it’s pretty for sure now that I’m going to the other mission in July.   This week I’ve really been struggling with motivation.  I don’t know why. It’s been tough because we get back late and so it pushes everything back, and everyone in the apartment sleeps in.   I’m gonna do better this next week haha! I’ve been having some great experiences studying its just the sleep thats getting to me lol!!  I know you guys are worried about Malaria, but its okay I take Doxy, so I’m good, but yeah it is true I need to get better at using my mosquito net.   I will with my new cop!  Elder Austin is the new AP, and he just got some meds from the pharmacy and was fine once he got on the meds.  Malaria really isn’t that bad.  Its only bad if you don’t do anything about it, then you can get way sick!  I know I have to keep being obedient so the Lord continues to bless me.  I’m sorry I have been setting a bad example.  haha  Like dad always says, obedience is key!   It’s so hard with these missionaries who don’t work hard.  I know it’s an excuse, but it’s really hard when they don’t want to work and they’re all leaders in my apartment.  I promise to step it up this week!  I know obedience is the first law in heaven for a reason and I will step it up.  I especially have to because my new comp only has a few months left and I’ve heard he’s kind of lazy too.  I can’t believe you guys look so young, but my bros look so old it’s so weird.   Like you guys look the exact same, but like Justin, Ben, Zach, and Tanner have like grown up a ton.  It’s crazy!  I’m so glad you guys are in Europe!!! You deserve it man!!!! I hope you guys have fun!  So having Elder Clayton and his wife was so awesome.  He and his wife are so awesome and so full of the spirit!!  I really needed to hear their messages.  They’re so awesome!  It was like he was speaking just to me, but like everyone was there.  The spirit was so strong man!!  I felt I needed to change some of my habits such as sleeping in and stuff!  It was really interesting!!  This area has just really been difficult because the people are so racist and just mean to me.  I fasted that I have more love for the people and can be more obedient.  I need to not let what they say bother me.  Now I can understand what they’re yelling so it’s more difficult, but I will serve them more and I know that will help.  I really only have two areas I need to work on and that’s sleep in sometimes and being more loving and serve those who are mean to me.  haha  I think because I saw the ZL all sleep in and even Elder Austin, who was just called to be the AP sleep in it’s ok.  I won’t let others influence what I do.  I’m going to be a leader.  Well have a great week!  I love you so much!!

Hey Family,

how was your week??  Sorry about the recording and stuff.  The connection sucks, and I can hardly even write you right now hahaha hope you get my message hahaha!  My connection and keyboard are trash this week.  My week was great though!  Crazy that everyone is basically done with school for the summer.  Looks like you guys had a blast this week.  We have to wait for our investigators’ birth certificates to get sent and stuff so it may be the end of this next month I hope before they can get baptized!

They’re good though!!!  We just gotta get them to church lol! It rained yesterday so we had like one person show up 🙁  We actually only have one investigator right now and not too many members so we have a lot of work to do!  So Dad you asked me what I do every day.  You crack me up dad! Not much basically just teaching a lot more! I basically explain it all in the recording!  I get to connect with the AP’s every Sunday cuz their ward meets at the same place.   They’re pretty cool dudes!  They’re also in my district but never come to district meetings lol!  They’re just too busy.  I did talk to them about the new mission changes and it sounds like I will get sent to the new mission if I’m still here in July.  I think this whole Zone will go to the West mission.  It’ll probably happen this next transfer.  If it happens I hope Elder Austin comes with me!  We’ll see.  It’s in the Lord’s hands.  Also, we have a General Authority coming this week, so that should be great!  Sounds like Josh is killing it at the OR!  That’s dope that he got trained in the neuro team.  Well, I really do love it here!  hahaha I miss you guys like crazy!!! When we played uno yesterday it totally reminded me of when we would play board games as a family it cracked me up!!!  I came to realize my comp is literally Ben and it is so weird!!  I also realized I’ve changed a lot with games I’m not as competitive as I was.  hahaha I feel like half the time it was me why we couldn’t finish games lol!!!!! I know you want pictures of the area, but its tough to get good picks of it cuz its in the city and you don’t wanna look like a tourist takin pics haha  Well, I love you all sooo much have an awesome time in France.  I can’t wait to hear about it next week:!!!!  Love you guys!!!!!!!😘😘😘😘😘

 Have a great week!

May 14, 2018 Port Bouët (Week 3)

Hey Family,

So president said we could come to the office today to face time you guys but like I don’t now how that would work cuz like everyone has school and work! What do you guys think??  I hope it works out because I would really like to see all of you!!!  President invited a bunch of missionaries to come to the office to do it!  He’s so awesome! It was so awesome to talk to you all yesterday!  It made my week!!  Everyone sounds so good!  It made me so happy to talk to everyone.  This week was pretty great! We had a baptism!  It was awesome!  Listen to the recording because I tell you all about her!  The thing that stunk was the rain spoiled a lot of our appointments haha! We got a few from members but we haven’t had time to teach them cuz of the rain but its a lot better now so hopefully we go and teach them this week!  When it rains my comp doesn’t like going out so we just sit in the apartment lol!  He’s been out the same amount of time as Austin, and so he’s just tired and stuff but he’s a good guy! We get along great!  Was it like that for you, dad in the mission?   Like after a year the missionaries just get super tired and sleep a bunch?? Is that normal?  Did you ever get like that?  A mission is like a XC race…after being here a year I’m sure it’s like mile 2!  I haven’t really been homesick, which is a blessing! This morning I felt it a little but it left pretty quick! I feel like its not gonna be a big deal especially once tomorrow comes and we get back to teaching and stuff!  I figured it would be like this, like I think about home but it doesn’t consume me.  It’s nothing like the beginning of the mission! Its honestly way easier now!  I feel like its so weird at first I was like what did i do, but now i like it!  Oh, I hope you like my hair. I shaved it off!  I have pictures below.  🙂  It’s a ton easier and WAY cooler!  Also, I would really love a recording of Tanner playing the piano!!  I can’t believe how good he has gotten!!   So this week we don’t have much planned.   Hopefully we get Sr Syntia and Fr Jean to get baptized, but they aren’t keeping to commitments so pray they do so they can be baptized!  We’ll also probably go to that village to keep teaching family Faye and hopefully get a date set for their baptism and marriage!  They’re like basically our 4 investigators, but we just got some more contacts that were gonna go visit this week so hopefully they’re more promising lol!!  Its honestly a tough secteur because we’re not teaching a lot of people, but its also cuz we’re new so I’m not worried its gonna be great!!   Well, I hope we can Skype. We’re leaving the cyber soon and we’ll go to the mission home.  I love you all so much!  Have an awesome week!!

Family!

How are you guys?  My health is way better!!!  Elder Austin told me there is a good chance when the new mission opens that my zone I’m in now will move over to Abidjan West, so that will be interesting!  It’s in the Lord’s hands!  How are Zach and Tanner.   They don’t write me anymore and it makes me sad haha!  I miss those li’l dudes!  hahaha I love those lil dudes!  I miss them like crazy!  All week they’ve been on my mind hahaha!!!  Well I love them tons and all you guys!!!  That is so crazy that school is almost out!!!  It’ll be so fun!!!   Its a tough area from a missionary perspective.  haha The ward is super jacked up and we’re both pretty new.   We don’t have much lessons scheduled, but it is going good.   I love it cuz I can just work hard just like Gonzaugue.  It wasn’t till the end until it got good anyways.  I’m stoked to see how it goes! Did you ever figure out the correct address to send a package.  I want a package lol!  I need the red handbook in english like a hard copy of it and in French if you can find it.   I just want that cuz I need to help these leaders.  Man it is bad!  They have no training and it feels like the church is so apostate here haha! You could also send some candy and granola bars and stuff too! hahaha  Can you guys also send me the conference talks like you were going to haha.  I got the last one.  It was perfect so whatever you did, do it again lol!  Can you also send me an Ensign with the pictures of the new leaders?  I love it because I use it to teach!  Like in the middle of it there is a picture of the first presidency and like the other 12 and 70.  That would be awesome!  I need to be obedient.  Missionaries are talking about breaking the rules and Skyping home this Mother’s Day.  I’d rater be obedient and stay healthy then disobedient and die of a disease! lol  Listen to my recording.  There was a sister that got possessed?!  I guess it was super scary!  It happened to Elder Sorenson in his ward yesterday!  He said it was super sketchy like out of the horror movies sketchy!  Elder Sorenson said he was terrified!  I talk about it in my recording.  My French is getting better.  Its tough though there are a lot of grammar rules!  My problem is the accent!  Gosh I’m gonna kill this computer the connection is sucking again haha!  Well I can’t wait to talk to you next week.  I love you all soooo much!  Have a great week!

April 30, 2018 Port Bouët (Week 1)

Hey Family,

The power of prayer is real!  I have been praying so hard for you and the Lord answered my prayer and protected all of you!  I can’t believe you guys almost all died on your trip home from Denver!  I thank the Lord he protected you!!!  So I’m in a new area called Porbouet.  It’s in the same Zone as the mission office.  It’s so much nicer here because we have paved roads, running water, and a SHOWER!! haha  My new comp’s name is Elder Dikebele from the Congo.  He’s been out a little over a year! He was in the MTC with Wabunga and they are really close.  It’s so cool you guys are going to Paris soon!  I can’t wait to see pics.  We will have to go there when I get back!  I was worried at first that it would be weird with my companion since he’s good friends with Wabunga, but I just don’t let it be weird.  I just pray he doesn’t try anything with me, but I’m not worried.  I just told him this is in the past and we have a work to do so I don’t want to talk about it and he seemed ok with that answer.  He’s a great guy and super funny.  I’m also with Elder Austin from the East Coast and he and his companion are the Zone Leaders so it’s super fun!  It’s a party!!  He went to BYU before his mission.  He’s awesome! He was also in the MTC with Wabunga.   All of the Elders in my apartment are awesome.  I got a blessing from Elder Austin because I think I may have tapeworms.  In my blessing I was told the Lord knows exactly what I’m going through right now and that it is for my benefit!  The doctors checked and they found nothing, so its weird but its okay I will get it fixed.  I also fasted yesterday for it as well.  Thank you for your prayers too.  🙂  The Lord has been helping me in so many ways more than you will ever know haha! He has showed me all of my weaknesses and has helped me make them strengths!  The Lord has humbled me so much I am so happy for this amazing experience I’ve had!!  I didn’t realize it until after the transfer I look back and see how the Lord has helped me without me even knowing it!  It’s been such a great blessing!!  I’m just glad its not over yet!!  I’m going to just stay obedient though cuz I’ve come to realize that 12 baptisms in a month isnt easy to do here haha I thought it was just normal, but it’s because of our hard work and obedience.  I’m planning to get 10 this next month too! I think it is possible.   We take this super sketchy boat to a village where we’re teaching a lot of investigators, but its so dope!  You can see the picture of the boat below.  Also, my retainer got messed up so Elder Austin had to help me!  Well I love you so much!  Have a great week!!!
